Sagra del Buco Unto (OILY HOLE FESTIVAL)
November | Civitella Marittima
A festival of typical Maremma flavours that pays tribute to two of the most popular local products: Vino Novello and Olio nuovo. Markets with many craft products, food stands, games, shows and live music colour Civitella Marittima during this historic event with a special name.
"Buco Unto" refers to the inhabitant of Civitella, known in the past for always wearing trousers soiled with 'grease' at the level of the bottom of the back. This bizarre element was due to the way he cleaned his shoes with "sugna" (grease): kneeling in church during mass, the heel of his shoes hit the back of his trousers, soiling them right on the bottom.
A tribute to the truthfulness and goodness of the products of our land, the Maremma, and which for years has been attracting more and more people and artists from all over Tuscany and beyond.
